Rayagada: Refreshing the Dana Majhi episode in the minds of the people of the State, another video of a man carrying the dead body of his nine-year-old son on his shoulder after being allegedly denied a hearse vehicle under the Mahaprayan scheme is going viral on social media.
In the video, the man is seen walking on the streets of Rayagada town carrying a lifeless child on his shoulders with some people following him. He was identified as Suradhar Benia of Harijan Sahi in Rayagada town who had to carry the dead body of his son Akash Benia for around 1.5 kilometers from the district headquarters hospital to his house.
Reportedly, Akash had been rushed to the hospital after falling sick. Following preliminary treatment, the doctor there declared him dead. The family members allegedly did not get any Mahaprayan service to take the body of the boy home.
As a result, Suradhar lifted the body of his son on his shoulder and started walking towards their home followed by his family members.
Reacting to the incident, Rayagada Collector Saroj Kumar Mishra claimed that there were enough vehicles available at the DHH to provide Mahaprayan service. He ensured of conducting an inquiry and taking appropriate action. If it is proved that anyone denied him the service, action will be taken against the person accordingly.
