Bhubaneswar: Another suspected ‘spy’ pigeon has been captured at Nanpur Pati Sahi under Astaranga police limits of Puri district.
According to reports, the pigeon was captured by one Roopan Pati of Nanpur Pati Sahi while it had perched on the roof of Roopan’s house.
The captured bird has a brass tag on one of its legs and a plastic tag on the other leg. Some kind of information is written on the tags in English.
While Roopan has kept the captured pigeon in their home, he has informed the police about it.
It is pertinent to mention here that a similar pigeon with a tiny camera-like device and a microchip fixed to its legs was captured by fishermen when it had perched on their fishing boat which had anchored 40 km off the Konark coast.
The fishermen had handed over the bird to the Marine police in Paradip on March 8. Investigation into the matter by the police is underway.
