Balasore: Yet another carcass of an elephant was recovered near the Nilagiri Kuldiha forest range in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday. According to the Forest department, the tusker was shot dead by poachers who took away the tusks of the animal.
The carcass of the elephant was found without its tusks, and there were bullet injuries on its body.
The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the region has started a probe into the elephant’s death and soon a Special Task Force (STF) team will arrive here to take over the killing of the tusker as well as the series of elephant poaching incidents in the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary.
