Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has made notable strides in combating corruption, registering 202 criminal cases and arresting 212 government officials and others in 2025. The cases include 49 Disproportionate Assets (DA) cases, 97 Trap cases, and other corruption cases, with DA worth approximately Rs.120 crores unearthed. Vigilance director Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa explained the achievements of the department at a press meet.
Key Highlights:
– 53 Class-I officers, including 1 IAS officer, 36 Engineers, 17 Forest officials, and 20 Revenue officials were booked for corruption.
– Rs.8.81 crores cash seized, along with 153 buildings, 18.300 Kg Gold, 714 plots, and 12 Farm houses.
– Major cash recoveries include Rs.2.56 crore from Chief Engineer Baikuntha Nath Sarangi and Rs.2.08 crore from Project Director Santanu Mohapatra.
– 479 cases disposed of, with a disposal rate of 237%, and 108 convictions achieved.
– 24 government functionaries dismissed from service, and pension stopped for 50 retired public servants.
Major Cases:
– IAS officer Dhiman Chakma arrested with Rs.57 lakh cash.
– Chief Engineer Baikuntha Nath Sarangi booked for DA worth Rs.9.08 crore.
– Project Director Santanu Mohapatra booked for DA worth Rs.4.46 crore.
