Bhubaneswar: The Inter — State and Inter Agency Co-ordination Meeting on Left Wing Extremism was held today at the Intelligence Directorate here on Tuesday. Senior Police Officers of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Intelligence Bureau, BSF and CRPF participated in the meeting.
Issues relating to the prevailing LWE situation in the inter — State borders of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, sharing of intelligence, deployment of Security Forces at strategic locations, inter —State coordination and inter — State anti — LWE operations were discussed in the meeting.
The progress made with regards to the decisions taken in the last meeting at Raipur, Chhattisgarh in July, 2022 and I.B. Hdqrs in August, 2022 was also discussed. It was stressed upon that all concerned agencies will work with more synergy to combat the LWE menace in a more pro-active and effective manner.
Further, during an intelligence based operation launched by Kandhamal District Police in Matakupa Reserve Forest area of Kandhamal district today, an exchange of fire took place between Maoists and SOG teams.
The encounter took place on the border of Gochhapada police limits of Kandhamal district and Kantamal police limits of Boudh district.
During search operation in the area, two dead bodies of female CPI (Maoist) cadres in uniform with 4 fire arms including 1 INSAS Rifle with 11 Rounds of ammunition and 1 IED have been recovered.
“The process of identification of the dead bodies is underway. Further search operation is going on in the area. Combing operation has been intensified and more teams have been pressed into the area,” DG Police SK Bansal said.
“I once again appeal to the Maoists to shun violence, join the social mainstream and partake in the process of development and lead a decent life,” he added.
