Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
She was nominated by the Executive Committee of IPU. Aparajita informed about this through social media, citing a message from the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla.
In March last year, Aparajita Sarangi attended the IPU Assembly in Geneva, where she actively participated in the discussions. She has been a member of the IPU’s Executive Committee.
Taking to Twitter, Bhubaneswar MP wrote: “During the 148th IPU Assembly held in Geneva in March 2024, Smt. Aparajita Sarangi, Member of IPU Executive Committee was nominated as Inter-Parliamentary Union Vice President representing Asia Pacific Group. Got the intimation from our @LokSabhaSectt as above. I am humbled.”
Aparajita Sarangi has been appointed to the House Committee, a 12-member panel chaired by Dr. Mahesh Sharma. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has included her in this prestigious committee.
