Bhubaneswar: In a bid to help people who have lost their mobility due to loss of a limb or disease, robotics assisted therapy and artificial limb is being provided at two Advanced Rehabilitation Centres (ARCs) in Odisha.
While one ARC is situated at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, another is in the District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) of Sundargarh. Stroke patients, spinal cord injury, brain injury, neurological disorder, cerebral palsy, limb amputations, and joint replacements can be treated at the ARCs.
The treatment is available free of cost to patients across with annual family income below Rs 2.4 lakh. Patients with annual family income above Rs 2.4 lakh are provided with a discount as per the rate chart prescribed by the Central Government.
Patients have to first register themselves with the ARCs by submitting the requisite documents such as income proof, ration card, Aadhaar card, and disability certificate. After proper scrutiny, the eligible beneficiaries are contacted by the ARCs.
The Sundargarh district administration has recently launched a district-wide identification drive through Anganwadi Centres to reach out to the Persons with Disabilities and help them by providing robotics assisted therapy and artificial limb.
