Boudh: Mask wearing armed dacoits late on Thursday night allegedly looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 10 lakh and Rs 85,000 in cash from the house of one Manoranjan Sahu of Bardol village under Manamunda police limits in Boudh district.
An FIR has been registered at Manamunda police station by Sahu on Friday.
According to reports, six men wearing masks armed with a variety of weapons entered the the house of Manoranjan Sahu in Bardol village late on Thursday night. The dacoits thrashed Manoranjan and his wife Sabitri, while pointing a pistol at their daughter’s head. They threatened to kill her.
The dacoits broke open all the cupboards and trunks in the house and allegedly decamped with gold ornament worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 85,000 in cash.
Villagers who tried to stop the dacoits from fleeing the spot were also attacked.
Manoranjan, his wife Sabitri and a fellow villager Nilakantha Pradhan who have been grievously injured have been admitted to the Government Hospital at Manamunda.
Manamunda police have launched an investigation into the matter.
