Nuapada: After lying low for a few days, outlawed Maoists have struck again. This time, the red rebels announced their presence in Golaband village under Kermeli panchayat under Nuapada Sadar block in the district on Thursday night. Armed Maoists staged a demonstration and hurled bombs at the forester’s quarters of the Wildlife Department in Golaband village.
Maoists blew up the beat house of the forest dept at Golabandh under Sadar police limits and set fire to a JCB vehicle in the village.
The Maoists also pasted a poster near the Forester’s office alleging that the Centre and Odisha and Chhattisgarh state governments were selling the minerals and water of their region to corporates. They further alleged that the governments and companies were exploiting and harassing the common people of the region. They threatened to intensify their actions if things did not improve.
