Khordha: Three unidentified bike-borne armed miscreants on Thursday allegedly fired at a woman employee of a private finance firm in Dhanghar-Nuagaon area under Begunia police limits and looted around Rs70,000 from her.
The injured woman has been identified as Ranjita Khatei. She is an employee of Madura Finance, police said.
“Ranjita Khatei, a woman employee of Madura Finance had gone to Dhanghar-Nuagaon for collection of money from SHG groups. Three Pulsar motorcycle-borne youths forcibly snatched Rs 60,000-70,000 from her,” informed Sushil Kumar Mishra, SDPO, Khordha.
The SDPO said that when Ranjita protested, the miscreants fired at her.
“She has a firing injury on her right leg. After conducting a preliminary inquiry at the district headquarters hospital here, she has been referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for her treatment,” the SDPO added.
Mishra further informed that the scientific team of the police has already left for the spot and two teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
“We have alerted nearby police stations and are trying to nab the culprits,” he added.
