Dhenkanal: Four armed miscreants looted gold ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh from a bank here on Friday afternoon. The incident has been reported from the Mahavir Road branch of Odisha Gramya Bank. According to a bank employee, the four armed persons also took away Rs 6 lakh in cash during the robbery.
They came on two motorcycles and threatened the bank staff with dire consequences if the latter raised an alarm. Within a few minutes, the robbery was executed, and the miscreants fled from the spot in the two-wheelers, the bank employee Hrushikesh said.
Dhenkanal SP Gyanaranjan Mohapatra and officials of Mahavir Road police station rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry. A case has been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the accused persons, the police said.
