Ganjam: A jawan of the Indian Army succumbed to his injuries sustained during an assault in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The jawan, identified as J Dileshwar, was a resident of Kalipalli village under Chamakhandi police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
According to an FIR lodged in this connection, Dileshwar was posted in Durgapur in West Bengal and had come home on leave just a week ago. On Sunday, he was assaulted by four miscreants while returning home from Gopalpur after watching a game. The miscreants attacked the jawan at Haripur street under Chamakhandi police limits. When his family learned about the incident, they rushed a critically injured Dileshwar to a hospital in Berhampur and later shifted him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated.
