Artists Create Sand Art On Diwali With A Social Message

Puri: Sand wizards Manas Kumar Sahoo and Sudarsan Pattnaik have sculpted mesmerizing sand arts on the golden beach of Puri on the occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja. The arts came with a beautiful social message of having safe and pollution-free Diwali.

International sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo created his 15ft sand sculptor on the eve of the occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja yesterday. He used about 10 tonnes of sand and took nearly three hours to complete it.

Sahoo portrayed Goddess Kali in his sculpture with a prayer for the protection of our nation and for the destruction of evil from our society. The artist also prayed that on this occasion of holy Deepawali the whole world to get illumined and filled with peace and prosperity. The artist appealed everyone to celebrate the occasion without polluting the atmosphere by bursting crackers. The message given was “not cracker but bring smile on people’s face” and “Say no to crackers”.

Not far behind, renowned sand wizard Sudarsan Pattnaik created a massive 60 feet long and 30 feet wide ‘Diya’ as sand art paying homage to Goddess Kali. This was made by Pattnaik and his students from the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute.

On the occasion of Diwali, the artist prayed that there be happiness and prosperity everywhere. Using art as a medium he urged everyone to have a ‘Green Diwali’.
