Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, an ASHA worker collapsed and died while returning home after attending a religious storytelling event at Tungurubahala village under Telkoi block in Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Manjari Sahu (56), who had served as an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) for over 15 years.
According to reports, Manjari regularly attended the ‘Bhagavad Purana katha’ held in the village mandap every evening during the holy month of Kartika. On Tuesday, she participated in the session as usual but collapsed on her way home after the event.
Villagers rushed her to the Telkoi Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared her brought dead. While the exact cause of her sudden death is yet to be confirmed, preliminary reports suggest that she may have suffered a cardiac arrest.
