Bhubaneswar: An Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker was hacked to death by her brother-in-law on Thursday following a land dispute at Chadiapalli village under Jagannathprasad police limits in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Tuni Tripathi.

According to reports, a long-standing land dispute between Tuni and her brother-in-law’s family had led to frequent altercations. On Wednesday late night, a heated argument escalated into violence, during which the accused allegedly attacked Tuni with an axe, killing her on the spot.

On receiving information, police from Jagannathprasad reached the scene and launched an investigation. The accused is currently absconding.

A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused.
