Rourkela:Death of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Alisa Narmi Lugun was caused by ‘excited delirium’, informed Rourkela SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra.

“ASI Lugun’s post-mortem was videographed in the presence of magistrate. After receiving the post-mortem report we had sent it to AIIMS -Bhubaneswar which was examined by the institution’s Professor of Forensic Medicine. The Professor after examining the report has opined that ASI Lugun’s death was caused due to excited delirium. It happens when a person gets excessively excited. The person experiences an adrenalin rush and develops breathing problem,” stated Mahapatra addressing a presser here on Saturday.

Mahapatra said that the Professor has clearly written that there was no attack on ASI Lugun and she had no injuries.

“On the basis of the report we are carrying forward the investigation in the case further and will be preparing the final report soon. We had registered a murder case on the basis of the report by ASI Lugun’s family members and had gathered evidence. The AIIMS-Bhubaneswar report clearly states that it is not a murder case. So, therefore, the case will be proceed as per other legal procedures as is applicable for preventing a public servant from carrying out her duty,” the SP pointed out.

Lugun was posted as an ASI at the Uditnagar police station in Rourkela and had died while on duty at an accident site.

As per reports, Lugun had gone to an accident site where she was opposed by the people. She felt uneasy and was rushed to the hospital where she was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors.
