Asian Para Games 2018: Odia Shuttler Pramod Bhagat Clinches Gold In Men’s Singles

**Bhubaneswar:** Odisha’s ace para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat has won laurels for the State and the Nation by clinching gold in the para Badminton men’s singles event today at 2018 Asian Para Games at Jakarta in Indonesia.

He defeated Indonesian Ukun Rukaendi in MS SL 3 category 21-19, 15-21, 21-14 today.

In a keenly contested semifinal, Bhagat had defeated his Vietnam rival Tuein-Trins Ahan 21-17, 18-21, 21-9 and had stormed into the finals.

On Friday, Bhagat had to be satisfied with a bronze medal in the para-badminton doubles event. He partnered with compatriot Manoj Sarkar to lose the final to an Indonesian pair 13-21, 19-25.

Bargarh’s Bhagat suffered from polio at the age of seven but that did not hinder him from becoming a well-known name in the sporting world.
