Berhampur: Aska police in Ganjam district today arrested an auto-rickshaw driver of Shergarh block for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl.
The accused has been identified as Nilakantha Behera. He has been forwarded to court by Aska police.
According to reports, accused Nilakantha used to ferry a few kids to a private school from their homes and vice versa in his auto-rickshaw.
He allegedly raped a 3-year-old girl who used to travel to school in his auto-rickshaw.
After the horrific incident came to light, the minor girl’s parents lodged a complaint with Aska police.
Following the complaint, Aska police registered a rape case and arrested Nilakantha.
The accused and the victim were sent to MKCG Medical College & Hospital by the Aska police for medical examination.
Later, the victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate.
Locals have demanded stringent punishment for the culprit.
