Bhubaneswar: Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan has advised the Opposition to have some patience till the Puri Collector submits his probe report in the matter of the alleged assault of an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) by Governor Raghubar Das’s son Lalit Kumar on the night of July 7 on the Raj Bhavan premises in Puri.
“The Governor’s office has directed the Puri Collector to conduct a thorough probe into the incident of July 7 and submit a report within 15 days. After Puri Collector submits his report whosoever is found guilty, whosoever he may be, however powerful he may be, the government will take action against him based on the finding,” stated Harichandan speaking to media persons.
He requested Opposition members to have patience.
“The government is fully aware of the incident. The government is committed to allowing the law to take its own course. We want to assure the people of the State that there won’t be any problem in that and the people trust us. Only the opposition needs to have patience,” he clarified.
On the night of July 7, the ASO Baikuntha Pradhan was allegedly assaulted by Governor Raghubar Das’ son Lalit Kumar on the Raj Bhavan premises in Puri, where Pradhan was posted to supervise the preparation for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit.
Earlier in the day, BJD and Congress MLAs walked out of the House as soon as Governor Raghubar Das began his address in protest against the assault on the ASO and police inaction in the matter.
