Bhubaneswar: In a good news for engineering aspirants, they can now appear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) in Odia along with 10 other languages from 2021.
In a notification issued by Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) to National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the test in at least 11 languages which include Odia, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English.
At present, the JEE Main is held in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
The move is expected to help students to continue their under-graduation in their chosen vernacular and instead of switching to English or Odia after their 10th. The move will help students from several states who will be preparing for the examination.
Aspirants need to clear JEE Main exams to appear for JEE Advanced which is the entrance examination for studying BTech at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
