Bhubaneswar: A jawan of the Assam Rifles passed away suddenly while visiting his native village in Bhadrak district.

The deceased has been identified as Dinamani Raut.

Raut, who held the rank of Havildar, was stationed in Manipur and was scheduled to rejoin his duties on June 23.

Raut, a resident of Patribinda village in Fatepur block, had been serving in the Assam Rifles since 2000.

According to reports, Raut had gone to his in-laws’ home in Chandeswar village under Dhamnagar police limits. He experienced chest pain while riding his bike to the market on Tuesday evening. Locals rushed him to Dhamnagar hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The cause of his death is yet to be determined, but his family and friends are mourning the loss of a dedicated soldier who served his country with pride.
