Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan has been granted bail in connection with the assault case involving Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
According to reports, the bail was approved by the District and Sessions Court in Khurda in lieu of a Rs 30,000 bond and one person as surety. Pradhan has been accused of assaulting BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, with the police booking him under several sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Protesting the incident, the Odisha Administrative Services (OAS) Association had demanded Pradhan’s arrest. The outfit members launched a state-wide casework agitation and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi via Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
It may be recalled that Pradhan was arrested by the Commissionerate police after he surrendered himself before Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena’s office. Following Pradhan’s arrest, the OAS Association withdrew its casework protest.
