Bhubaneswar: The bail hearing of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, currently lodged in Ward No. 29 of the Jharpada Special Jail as an undertrial prisoner in connection with the assault case involving Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, will be held today in the District and Sessions Court in Khurda.
Earlier, Pradhan’s bail plea was rejected by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court, prompting him to move the District and Sessions Court seeking relief. As per report, the Sessions Court had directed the Investigating Officer of Kharavelnagar Police Station to submit the case diary in connection with the case by Tuesday. Acting on the court’s instruction, Kharavelnagar Police have submitted the case diary to the Sessions Court in connection. The bail hearing is scheduled for today following the submission of the case diary by the Kharavelnagar Police. Senior Advocate Chittaranjan Das will represent Pradhan.
Pradhan has been accused of assaulting Ratnakar Sahoo, with the police booking him under several sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
