Assembly Budget Session Day 2: Farmers’ Issue Mars House Proceeding, Adjourned

Bhubaneswar: While the inaugural day of the vital Budget Session of Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) marked ruckus by Congress and BJP members over several issues and staging of a walkout by the Congress MLAs during the Governor’s address, the beginning of the second-day session also marked pandemonium.

Unable to run the proceedings smoothly, Speaker Surya Narayan Patro had to adjourn the House till 11.30 am.
When the House assembled for the day at 10 am, both the Congress and BJP legislators created ruckus over the issue relating to the farmers of the State.

The agitating members rushed to the Speaker’s podium and resorted to an uproarious scene that adversely affected the transaction of important business scheduled for the day.

Even though Speaker Surya Narayan Patro went on appealing the protesting members to maintain order in the House as it was the important Question Hour, the members went on raising slogans unabated by flaunting placards.
Senior Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati was seen trying to scale up to the Speaker’s podium by standing on a chair.

Soon after the House re-assembled, the pandemonium again resurfaced for which the Speaker re-adjourned the proceedings till 4 pm.
