Bhubaneswar: The third day of the Assembly session also witnessed uproar and pandemonium as members of the opposition Biju Janata Dal and Congress created a ruckus in the House.
Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 4 pm after the all-party meeting yielded no results.
According to sources, despite efforts to resolve the deadlock, the Odisha Assembly session remained stalled, with the Speaker first adjourning the House till noon and later extending the halt till 4 pm.
An all-party meeting convened by the Speaker to break the impasse yielded no results, leading to the prolonged adjournment.
The commotion started right from the beginning of the question hour, with BJD members storming out of the House.
Congress members followed suit, entering the middle of the House and raising slogans. Speaker Surama Padhi initially adjourned the House till 11.30 am due to the unrest.
To resolve the stalemate in the House Speaker Surama Padhy called an all-party meeting. Opposition leader Prasanna Acharya, opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahalinga, and BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra were invited to the all-party meeting.
The Opposition has been vocal in its criticism of the Mohan Majhi government, accusing it of shielding the Governor’s son in connection with an assault case involving a government official, sources said.
