Assess Damage Caused By Heavy Rain Before Aug 17 To Expedite Aid: SRC To Collectors

Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner Bishnuapada Sethi on Saturday directed the Collectors of Bolangir, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Sambalpur to assess the damage caused to private properties due to recent floods and heavy rain by 17th August.

"Due to heavy precipitation during last week of July and first week of August, several parts of districts have experienced flooding/ inundation. The assessment of damage to private properties has to be done on priority so that the assistance as per the norms of State and National Disaster Relief Funds can be paid to the affected persons expeditiously," the letter to Collectors mention.

The district administration has been asked to assess damage in sectors such as house, animal husbandry, loss of boat & net, damage of fish pond/ fish seed farm, sand cast, damage to crop and loss to handloom & handicraft artisans, etc. 

Adequate number of teams comprising members from diffierent departments are to be formed for the task. The teams while covering an affected village will assess and enumerate beneficiaries in all sectors simultaneously. The supervising officers will also conduct test checks to ensure correctness in the assessment.

"All beneficiary oriented assistances are to be transferred to the account of the beneflciaries through online transfer. Hence, the bank details of the beneficiaries should be collected at the time of assessment," the letter concludes.

Department have also been asked to assess damage and take up immediate repair of public properties such as Primary school Building, Primary Health centre, roads, bridges, drinking water supply schemes, minor irrigation canal, Panchayat Ghar, Anganwadi centre, Community halls, electric poles and transformers.
