Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested an assistant Revenue Inspector of Belgaon RI Circle under Saintala Tahasil of Bolangir along with a private person for demanding and accepting bribe from a person to forward enquiry report in a mutation case.
The assistant RI, Reshma Majhi allegedly accepted an undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000 from a complainant through a private person named Babulal Nanda.
Based on the complaint, a trap was laid wherein accused Reshma Majhi and Babulal Nanda were caught by a team of Vigilance in RI office premises while accepting an undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of both the accused persons and seized in the presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Majhi at village Kusurala under M.Rampur in Kalahandi and her office room. Both the accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to the Court, Vigilance said.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance registered a case U/s 7/12 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018. The case is under investigation.
