Gajapati: At least 20 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries after bus met a series of accidents in Gajapati district of Odisha. Six of the injured are said to be critical.
According to reports, the accident took place in the Kendu ghati near Liligarh under Mohana police limits in the district around 1.00 am on Monday.
The Sri Jagannath Express bus first collided with a pick up van and then with a parked bus before falling into a 20 feet deep gorge injuring at least 20 passengers.
Four critically injured passengers have been shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The others were treated at the Mohana hospital.
All the injured persons are from Malkangiri. The bus was en route to Malkangiri from Bhubaneswar. Before falling into the gorge, the bus hit another passenger bus named Kaleswar Travels.
On being informed, Mohana police rushed to the spot, sent the injured persons to hospital and initiated an investigation. Further probe into the accident is underway.
