Koraput: At least 30 passengers were injured, several of them critically injured, after a bus collided with a truck carrying timber on National Highway No 326 under Lakshmipur police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday morning.
The injured passengers have been admitted to Lakshmipur Medical Center, while police, Fire Services personnel and local people are still engaged in rescue work till the time of writing this report. Several passengers and the driver of the ill-fated bus are reported to be trapped inside the crushed vehicle.
According to reports, a private bus named ‘MSSB’ was en route to Rayagada with around 60-70 passengers from Jaypore. As it approached Dumuripadar road it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Several passengers in the bus were injured in the accident.
Three ambulances have been deployed to transport the injured passengers to the medical center.
