Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has stated that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was his inspiration behind joining politics.
“When I was small and had never expected to be in politics I came to know Atal Bihari Vajpayee. His ideals and endeavour to make this country, this nation, this race viswa guru and touch the zenith of progress and development in the world had inspired me. Inspired by him I joined politics. And over time have become the Chief Minister from a sarpanch to serve the people by joining Bharatiya Janata Party being inspired by the same ideology and belief. By following that ideology and belief today I have taken charge as the Chief Minister from a legislator,” said Majhi speaking to reporters in New Delhi today.
Majhi said that in the last 24 years of rule of the previous government lot of things remain to be done.
“To complete that and to build a new Odisha, especially when Utkal pradesh completes 100 years of its formation in 2036. In the coming five years, I shall strive to strengthen the infrastructure of Odisha along with the economic independence and development of its people. Odisha will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Vikshit Bharat by 2047. This resolution came to my mind when I prayed at the samadhi of Atalji and I will definitely fulfil it in the next five years,” Majhi asserted.
