Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Crime Branch will investigate the attack on Jajpur district MLA Himanshu Shekhar Sahu, the state government said in an order on Sunday. A six-member team has been formed under the leadership of a DSP Saroj Kanta Mohanta to investigate three cases – attack on the MLA, roadblocks and siege of the police station.
It is worth mentioning here that the Jajpur police have taken a serious note of the attack on Dharmashala MLA Himanshu Shekhar Sahu on November 20 and the scuffle at Birja Haat. The police have registered two cases in this connection and arrested 18 so far.
Bhavaprasad Das (Lal), brother of former MLA Pranab Prakash Das (Bobby), has been named as an accused in all the cases. Cases have also been registered against Bobby’s other brother Balabhadra Das and Jajpur Municipal Council Vice President Santosh Malik.
Meanwhile, security measures have been beefed up in Jajpur. Additional police forces have been deployed on Sunday.
