Paradip: Autopsy of the body of Milyakov Sergey, the 51-year-old Russian chief engineer of cargo ship M B Aldnah, who was found dead in the ship anchored at Paradip Port on Tuesday was conducted today.
M B Aldnah was on its way to Mumbai from Chittagong Port in Bangladesh via Paradip.
The post-mortem was conducted by a special team of doctors at the Kujang post-mortem centre in the presence of Kujang Tahasildar and IIC of Marine police station. The entire proceedings of the autopsy were videographed.
Viscera samples of Sergey’s vital organs like brain, heart, lungs, etc have been collected and arrangements have been made for sending those to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) at Bhubaneswar.
“Post-mortem has been conducted. We suspect it to be a natural death. It will take at least one day to prepare the post-mortem report. After forensic report is available it will be further clear whether the death was natural or homicidal,” informed Dr Sagar Kumar Behera, who conducted the autopsy on Sergey’s body.
Dr Behera said that as per reports Sergey was under medication for some medical problem and it is suspected to be the cause of his death.
He had an injury on the front side of his head which was caused due his falling down, Dr Behera added.
Kujanga Tahasildar Pritiparna Mohanty informed that the autopsy has been completed and details will be known after the report is made available.
Mohanty while refusing to share details informed that all paraphernalia will be followed.
After completion of post-mortem of Sergey’s body, it was brought back to the mortuary here for preservation.
On the other hand, on Tuesday as part of its preliminary investigation has quizzed the 22 members of the cargo ship’s crew.
Some crew members are learnt to have told the police that Sergey was sick.
It is pertinent to mention here that two Russian tourists, including a lawmaker, were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Rayagada town in the latter half of December.
Pavel Antov (65), a lawmaker in Russia, died after allegedly falling from a hotel’s third floor on December 24, while his friend Vladimir Bidenov (61) was found dead in his room on December 22. Both cases are being investigated by the Crime Branch.
