Bolangir: The newborn infant, who had gone missing from the special newborn care unit (SNCU) of the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (BBMCH) in Bolangir on Friday, was rescued from Ghantapada village in Boudh district.
Going by the complaint, Sushil Swain of Baradipadar village in Boudh district had admitted his wife to the obstetrics and gynaecology department of the BBMCH after she complained of labour pain on Thursday. His wife gave birth to a baby boy on Friday morning.
One of Susil’s family members had brought the infant to SNCU of the BBMCH following the doctor’s instruction. When she again came to the SNCU and enquired about the infant, nurse present there told that someone had already taken the baby.
The worried family members searched for the baby but in vain. Later, they lodged a complaint at the outpost of the BBMCH.
On the basis of the complaint filed by parents of the missing newborn, Town police launched a probe. The hospital authorities scanned the CCTV footage to find out who had taken the baby. Later, with the help of police the hospital authorities rescued the baby from a couple residing at Ghantapada village in Boudh district.
Upset with the birth of baby girl, the couple is reported to have abducted Susil’s son from the hospital.
