Bhubaneswar: Thanks to swift operations carried out by the police and Child Welfare Committee in Titlagarh, a newborn baby boy was recovered after being allegedly sold by his mother.
The baby, who was just a few days old, was found in the care of a woman in Titlagarh, who had allegedly purchased him from the mother.
According to sources, the baby was born on April 6 at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir and was discharged two days later. However, instead of going home with his mother, the baby was taken by a woman from Titlagarh, who claimed to be a mediator.
Upon receiving a complaint, the Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit launched an investigation. Additional District Magistrate, Pabitra Behera, initiated a probe. The baby was rescued from Titlagarh and handed over to the Child Welfare Committee.
