Baripada: A baby elephant fell into an unused well in Jamasula forest under Rasagobindapur range in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday night. The elephant was safely rescued today morning, said reports.
The elephant was unhurt as the well was barely 5 feet deep. But the forest department personnel were unable to rescue it because the calf was guarded by a herd of tuskers.
A team of fire service personnel filled the well with water after which the baby elephant rose up and was helped out by its family. The herd has moved into the forest, reports said.
