Bad Weather Forces Cancellation Of VP’s Balangir Visit, Guv Inaugurates Bottling Plant
Balangir: Vice President Venkiah Naidu’s visit to Balangir today was cancelled owing to bad weather caused by a trough line, said district officials.
The VP was scheduled to inaugurate a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) LPG bottling plant at Barakani of Balangir district and attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Rajendra College. His special chopper was not given permission for lift-off from Raipur airport owing to inclement weather.
In his absence, Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal inaugurated the BPCL LPG bottling plant and dedicated it to people of Odisha. Present with him were union minister petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan, Balangir MP Sangeeta Singh Deo, State Higher Education minister Arun Sahoo and Balangir MLA Narasingha Mishra among other dignitaries.
Vice President addressed the audience via video conferencing and dedicated the gas bottling plant to the nation.
The bottling plant has been made at a budget of whopping Rs 103 crores and has the capacity of manufacturing 42 lakh cylinders annually. It will be able to cater the needs of 14 districts of Western Odisha.
