Bolangir: The authorities of Kendriaya Vidyalaya at Badmal Ordnance Factory announced closure of the school on Tuesday after a leopard reportedly entered the school premises on Monday night.

The animal was spotted inside the school by locals and school staff. The school has been declared closed today as the animal is suspected to be inside the school. Upon receiving information, Titilagarh forest staff reached the spot and launched an investigation.

The Forest department has installed CCTV cameras in various places of the school to monitor the movement of the leopard. Security personnel and forest staff have kept a close watch on the entire area.

The forest department is taking extra precautions as the Ordnance factory is located near the forest. Around seven- eight leopards are there in the Badmal forest which is very close to the locality, said Ranger Sachidananda Subudhi.

“We have installed cameras in various places in the school. Our staff have visited the spot and will collect the pug marks which will be sent for examination to ascertain the age of the leopard,” said the Ranger.
