Bhubaneswar: Eminent oncologist and Managing Trustee of Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Saturday. The duo had a discussion over progress of the state-of-the-art cancer hospital and palliative care centre to be set up in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi and Mo School programme’s Chairperson Susmita Bagchi accompanied Dr Srinath to Naveen Nivas for the meeting which was coordinated by Secretary to CM (5T), VK Pandian.
Work on the Super Speciality Hospital is afoot despite the Covid pandemic. People are being provided with training to work in the Super Speciality Cancer Hospital which is likely to become operational from Rath Yatra in 2023, the CM was told.
Bagchi and his wife have committed to donate Rs 340 crore towards a cancer hospital and palliative care centre in Odisha. The donation is part of the Odisha Cabinet’s approval of a cancer hospital in Bhubaneswar as Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital & Research Centre and the establishment of Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre at Bhubaneswar.
