Bhubaneswar: The documentation of the Bahar Ratna Bhandar (Outer Treasury) at the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will begin from April 8, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, Harichandan said the inventory would cover the vast collection of ornaments and jewellery stored in the temple’s historic treasury.
“We are making all efforts to complete the documentation during April 8 to 10. Once this phase is finished, the Chhatisa Nijoga (a confederation of temple servitors) together with the Temple Administration, will decide on the next steps,” he added.
The minister also confirmed that the ongoing repair work at the temple is fully completed, with no pending tasks. He reassured devotees that the daily rituals of the deities will continue as usual during the inventory, and devotees will be allowed to have darshan of the Trinity.
Harichandan emphasised that the inventory process aims to preserve the precious heritage and sacred ornaments of the shrine for future generations, reflecting the temple’s cultural and historical significance.
