Bhubaneswar: The chariots of Lord Jagannath and his Sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are getting ready for the annual Bahuda Yatra – Puri Holy Trinity’s return to the Shree Jagannath Temple on Wednesday after a 9-day sojourn to the Shree Gundicha Temple.
After the ‘Dakhina More’ ritual, experts examined the three chariots — Nandighosa, Taladhwaja, and Darpadalan — were pulled to the Nakachana Gate of Shree Gundicha temple ahead of the Bahuda Yatra. While the district administration has made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of Bahuda Yatra, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has ensured that there is no delay in the Lord’s return to His abode.
The ‘Mangal Alati’ ritual was performed at around 4.00 am today following which they will be taken to their respective chariots through ‘Pahandi’ processions this morning. Once the deities are seated on their respective chariots, the ‘Chhera Pahanra’ ritual will be performed by Gajapati Maharaja of Puri on the three chariots. Following the completion of the Chhera Pahanra ritual, the chariots will be pulled toward the Srimandir.
During the Bahuda Yatra, the three chariots will stop for a brief while at the Mausima Temple or the Ardhasani Temple – the temple dedicated to the aunt of Lord Jagannath. Here, the Lord and His sibling deities will be offered ‘poda peetha’ – a favourite delicacy of Lord Jagannath.
