Bhubaneswar: The divine chariots of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, will return to the Shree Mandir today, marking the end of a 9-day sojourn to the Shree Gundicha Temple, which started with the world-famous Rath Yatra of the Trinity.
According to sources, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Trinity’s ‘Bahuda Yatra’, with tight security measures in place to ensure the safety of devotees.
The timings of the divine yatra have been fixed as per tradition. After completion of all rituals, the ‘Pahandi’ of the deities will be taken out at noon. Once the deities are seated on top of the chariot, the pulling of the chariots will commence, scheduled to start at 4 pm.
After the holy chariots are pulled to the Shree Mandir, additional rituals will be performed on the chariots, following traditional customs. This marks the final leg of the Bahuda Yatra, as the deities return to their sacred abode amidst the devotion and fervour of the faithful.
The district administration has ensured proper security arrangements, considering the gathering of lakhs of enthusiastic devotees to witness the grand festival of the Holy Trinity. Traffic and parking facilities have been taken special care of to avoid overcrowding.
During the Bahuda Yatra, the majestic chariots will stop briefly at the Mausima Temple or the Ardhasani Temple, where the Lord and His sibling deities will be offered ‘poda peetha’, a favourite delicacy of Lord Jagannath.
