Bhubaneswar: The Balanga girl who was set on fire by miscreants is fighting for her life at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she is undergoing treatment in the ICU with 72%-75% burns. According to AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, the girl’s condition is critical, and she is mentally and physically traumatized.

The medical team is prioritizing maintaining her blood pressure and respiratory system, and she is currently on oxygen support. Dr. Biswas stated that it would be 48 to 72 hours before the outcome of the treatment can be ascertained.

The girl is able to speak but is mentally traumatized. The immediate priority is acute treatment for her skin, as she has suffered second and third-degree burns. Due to the severity of her condition, airlifting her to another facility is not currently possible, he added.

Meanwhile, the police have recorded her statement in the presence of a magistrate and are investigating the incident. The probe team is examining CCTV footage and questioning her family members and others who rescued her.
