Bhubaneswar: The body of the Balanga victim, who had sustained 70 per cent burn injuries, succumbed to her injuries at AIIMS Delhi, has arrived in Bhubaneswar on a flight.
According to reports, heavy security arrangements were made at the airport when the body arrived, and various political leaders paid their tributes. The funeral rites will be conducted today, with the burial ceremony scheduled to take place after the morning prayers.
The body was taken to the victim’s ancestral village under heavy security for the final rites. Her family and relatives are preparing for the final rites according to Islamic traditions, which include reciting the Holy Quran and other rituals.
The tragic incident occurred on July 19 near the banks of the Bhargavi River at Balanga in Puri. The girl, suffering from severe burns, managed to run to a nearby house. Locals came to her aid, alerted her family, and rushed her to a Pipili hospital and later shifted her to AIIMS Bhubaneswar due to the severity of her injuries.
On July 20, she was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for further treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi.
