**Balangir:** The mortal remains of the four family members, killed in a road accident in far-away Gangtok on Tuesday, reached here on Friday and were laid to rest in the local burial ground as per the holy Christian custom and tradition in the evening hours.
A pall of gloom has descended on this district headquarters town since the sad and shocking news broke in on Wednesday.
Brother of late Michael Bag, Prabhat Chandra Bag (former Pastor, Cuttack Odia Bapist Church) in his reactions said, “A pall of gloom has descended here. Not only our family, but also entire Balangir inclusive of our Christian community are in a state of shock and mourning. But, death can never end life since life a priceless gift of God and thus eternal. Nurtured in the psalm of life, we solemnised the burial rituals. My brother was astute and amiable. God bless the family with eternal peace.”
Eminent social activist and BJD leader Lalit Kumar Nayak condoled, “I came in close contact with Michael Babu through his brother-in-law Mathews Babu, my best friend. Michael Babu was an outright gentleman. He was also a dutiful officer at his workplace. The mishap that eliminated his family is extremely shocking and gloomy not only for the bereft family members, but also for our entire Balangir. He was amiable and had a close rapport with one and all here as well as in his office. Kudos to the praiseworthy patience of his alive 12-year-old son. God has saved him from the fatal accident and blessed him with the strength so that he could inform his kith and kin from the accident spot. We all sincerely pray for his well-being and bright future. Let the departed souls rest in peace in their heavenly abode.”
The fatal road accident claimed the precious lives of Michael Bag, his wife, daughter and son while his 12-year-old son had a close shave miraculously in Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.
According to family sources, Michael Bag along with his wife Minu Bag and three children had been to there for their summer sojourn. The ill-dated family originally hail from Talapali Pada area of this town.
