Bhubaneswar: An inmate of Balangir jail died under mysterious circumstances today.
The deceased inmate identified as Bhismadev Sahu, a resident of Kusung village under Balangir Sadar police jurisdiction.
Sahu, who was serving a life sentence for murdering his wife, was found hanging inside the jail.
As per reports, he was jailed on charges of murdering his wife in 2021. A year ago, Bhismadev was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a court. Today, jail authorities found him committing suicide by hanging self and sent the body to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, his family members claimed Bhismadev was killed inside the jail, alleging it was a case of murder.
