Balasore Acid Attack: Prime Accused Chandan Rana Arrested

Balasore: Balasore police have arrested Chandan Rana, the prime accused in the February 20 Sahadevkhunta acid attack case. A total of eight persons have been arrested so far in connection with this case.

“Our team today succeeded in apprehending the prime accused in the 20th February acid attack case which took place under Sahadevkhunta police limits,” informed Balasore SP Sagarika Nath today.

Addressing a presser here Nath said that a total of five teams were formed to apprehend the prime accused which included a cyber team, a local team and three other teams were sent to different states.

“With the coordinated efforts of Kolkata police and Tamilnadu police and Maharashtra police we were able to apprehend the accused,” stated Nath.

The Balasore SP informed that the accused in a pre-planned manner had purchased acid and petrol and had visited the victim’s house “with the intention to kill”.

She further stated that those persons who had assisted the accused in this incident and had prior knowledge have been arrested by the police.

The accused’s wife who had assisted him in the entire process has been also arrested, she added.

She said those two persons who had helped the accused to escape from here have been also arrested.

Nath said that a total of eight persons including the person who had helped him in buying acid and the person who had sold acid to him have been arrested in this case.
