**Balasore:** Where we keep stressing on girl safety and everybody seems talking about woman empowerment, cases of rape are still on a rise. In a single day, cases of rape and attempt to rape have been registered from the same district here.
A case of rape of a physically-handicapped girl has been filed at Soro police station in the district here on Thursday morning. The incident has been reported from Mulisingh village.
The accused has been identified as Khageswar Si of Chhatrapur village.
As per reports, taking advantage of the situation, Khageswar forcibly barged into the girl’s home and allegedly raped her.
Soro police station officer in-charge Pradeep Kumar Nayak informed, “We have filed an FIR in this regard under section 329/18 at Soro police station and have sent the dumb girl to special school to record her statement. We have detained the accused as of now and will act on the accused after getting the girl’s recorded statement”.
A similar incident has been reported from Jambujhadi area under Simulia police station where a youth allegedly attempted to rape a class VI student on Wednesday night.
As per reports, the minor girl was coming back from tuition classes and suddenly it started raining. To take shelter she stopped before a house when the accused youth grabbed her and took her inside the house and attempted to rape her.
The accused has been identified as Krushnachandra Moharana.
When the girl tried to save herself, the accused beat her badly. Later she narrated her ordeal to her parents who then registered a complaint at the Simulia police station.
Simulia police station IIC Sanjay Kumar Parida informed, “A case has been registered under IPC section 199/18 and the accused has been arrested. Our investigation is on”.
Simulia police have arrested accused Moharana and will forward him to court. They are further investigating into the matter.
