Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered the district Collector to bring the situation under control following the group clash in Balasore on Monday.
The Chief Minister has said that under no circumstances breach of peace and harmony will be allowed.
Majhi said that Odisha is a peace-loving State. He has appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony.
Earlier, in the day two groups clashed near Patrapada on the Balasore-Chandipur road under Balasore Town police limits. The situation turned tense after two groups resorted to pelting stones at each other.
Following the incident, Balasore SP Sagarika Nath rushed to the spot to defuse the situation.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC have been imposed in the area amid the deployment of a large number of policemen to maintain law and order.
According to sources, four to five persons have been injured in the clash and 15 to 20 vehicles have been damaged in the incident.
