Bhubaneswar: The body of Muralidhar Mahakud, a labourer from Sahapur village in Balasore district, is being brought back to Odisha following the intervention of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Mahakud died in Mumbai while undergoing treatment for an illness.
The family of the deceased, who are very poor, had appealed to the Chief Minister to help them bring back the body. The Chief Minister immediately directed the district administration to assist the family. Arrangements were made to bring the body back to Odisha in an ambulance.
The Chief Minister also spoke to Mahakud’s wife and daughter over the phone and expressed his condolences. He assured them that he would support them and encouraged the daughter to continue her education. The family has expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his prompt action.
The body of Mahakud is expected to reach his village tomorrow. The Chief Minister has wished the departed soul to rest in peace. Majhi also assured the bereaved family of all support.
