Balasore: The Sahadevkhunta police have cracked a huge job fraud racket in which at least 100 job seekers of Odisha have been duped by scammers. Police have arrested five accused in this case and further investigation is on.

The prime accused contacted unemployed youths who were in search of jobs and collected money from them via UPI and cash for facilitating employment.

He used some mediators in the process who were instrumental in spreading the information to potential job seekers and conducted fake job interviews on his behalf. He collected huge money from the job aspirants with an assurance of Government jobs.

After collecting the money from them he also used to issue fake appointment letters to the potential aspirants.

“During investigation so far, it was revealed that this gang has duped hundreds of job aspirants of Odisha showing them forged/fabricated Government letters / Logo/selection list etc,” Balasore SP Sagarika Nath said.

During a search of houses of Scammer, incriminating forged documents like Government appointment letters, application forms and fake appointment letters of candidates for different posts like Project Assistant & District Coordinator (POSHAN Abhijan) in different districts, etc were seized, Nath added.

As per the initial investigation it is found that he has cheated the job aspirants to the tune of nearly Rs 1 crore. Fake appointment letters, application forms, cash of Rs 3.09 lakh, and gold ornaments worth Rs 10.50 lakh were seized.

Bank accounts and deposits worth approximately Rs 28 lakh and property worth approximately Rs 80 lakh have been frozen. Two teams have been sent to different parts of south India to investigate further, Nath added.
